Since 1978, Lin Associates, Inc. has provided structural engineering and construction administration services to a diverse client base including municipal, state, and federal agencies as well as the private sector.  Lin Associates is a privately owned, SDO (formerly SOMWBA) certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and MassUCP certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE).  The firm's personnel have extensive project design and management experience and senior personnel of the firm are registered professional engineers with active registrations in most New England States as well as Washington, DC.  These collective backgrounds provide the firm with the strong capability to complete projects in an accurate and efficient manner.  

Structural Services

Lin Associates’ structural services include two main components, the first of which focuses exclusively on bridges, while the second provides engineering services for buildings.  The bridge group produces designs for construction, rehabilitation, or replacement of bridge projects ranging from railroad to vehicular to pedestrian use, in addition to providing bridge inspection and rating services.  Lin Associates has been involved in bridge inspection/rating contracts for a wide range of highway, railroad, and rapid transit bridges throughout the Commonwealth for MassDOT and MBTA.   The firm has also performed bridge inspections as part of Comprehensive Bridge Rehabilitation Programs for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.  

In acknowledgement of the firm’s expertise, MassDOT has prequalified Lin Associates for Complex Bridge Design/Rating as well as NBIS Bridge Inspection and Geotechnical Engineering.

The building structural division provides services for the design and analysis of various concrete, steel, and timber building structures.  Successful projects have varied from rehabilitation, renovation, and modifications of existing structures to design of new structures such as office and commercial buildings, educational facilities, hospitals, correctional facilities, wastewater and water treatment plants, radar towers, and equipment supports.
 

Construction Administration

During the construction phase of a project, Lin Associates provides construction administration services to ensure construction is in conformance with project requirements and design criteria.  These services include, but are not limited to, review of shop drawings and materials, field observation, review of Value Engineering submittals, and coordination with regulatory agencies to assure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
